Dressing for Dublin next week

 

Where we are right now: Sodden and warm; a gardener's year; everything surging; air painted with butterflies; bees at their busy work, humming like an electric turbine

Where we head in two days: Dublin, Ireland, for Ask Direct's 2nd Summer School conference for fundraisers

Early, early morning Wednesday we arrive: 52 degrees F. Latest, highest, on tour that same day: 68 degrees F.

Thursday, speaking all day: high will be 64 degrees F.

Friday, last half day: high 66 degrees F.

Depart Saturday: high 64 F., low 52 F.

Last year, the spring appeal raised $35K. This year: $26K. What's different?

 

 

This year they abandoned the personal letter and went instead with a beautifully designed and illustrated brochure appeal. As Jeff Brooks says over and over: "Ugly works. Corny works. Plain and obvious work." Maybe it's that.
